In 2022 and 2023, the Office of Arts and Culture's Experiments in Public Art program worked with accelerator Farm to Spaceship to bring unique temporary art to Boulder.
This piece, called "The Playwright" by Paige Brown, was an interactive sculpture designed for the user to expose preferred, and otherwise hidden, images from a selection of colorful options in order to build and share a unique narrative. Brown's vision for the piece was to build community connection through storytelling.
The Playwright appeared at Community Art Day and the [Placeholder] Festival, two art-centric events in 2023.
The piece was part of the Office of Arts and Culture's Experiments in Public Art program. We partnered with Farm to Spaceship, a local accelerator program "that pairs local artists, designers, foodies, scientists, businesses, entrepreneurs, engineers, and community leaders to develop experiential offerings that are good for the community and exciting to customers."
