Director of Parks and Recreation

Ali Rhodes is Director for Boulder Parks and Recreation and is responsible for ~$27M annually and manages 1,800 acres of urban parks, 3 recreation centers, the Pearl Street Mall, and a variety of community amenities like Valmont City Park, the Boulder Reservoir, and Flatirons Golf Course. Ali joined the city in 2002 and previously held roles as Deputy Director for Parks and Recreation, Project Manager for the 2014 Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Recreation Center Supervisor for the North and South Boulder Recreation Centers, Sports Coordinator, and Administrative Specialist. Ali started her career in retail banking and joined the city after realizing her heart is aligned with public service. Ali holds a bachelor’s degree in History and Spanish from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. Ali is a graduate of Leadership-International City Manager’s Association, the Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service’s LEAD, and Senior Executive Institute programs.
