About Blythe

Director of Transportation and Mobility

Blythe Bailey is Director of Transportation and Mobility. Blythe joined the City of Boulder in 2025, after most recently serving as Director of Design and Connectivity for the Department of Parks and Outdoors in Chattanooga as well as the head of the Chattanooga Department of Transportation. Blythe has been a licensed architect in the state of Tennessee and has focused his professional work on making cities livable and assuring the public realm consists of a continuous network of safe and comfortable people-oriented places. Blythe finds joy in walking to get somewhere but will use a bike, bus, or drive a car when he needs to go farther or faster. He believes walkability is a bellwether for a community’s health and vitality and understands that walkability is as much about infrastructure as it is about people. Blythe started his career using his liberal arts degree from Vanderbilt University as a high school math teacher and coach and then later earned a Master of Architecture from the University of Tennessee.
