Earth Day Community Storytelling Night

This Earth Day, the City of Boulder invites community members to come together through storytelling, creativity and connection as we reflect on our shared climate future.

Inspired by the upcoming release of Boulder’s updated Climate Action Plan, this event is an opportunity to explore what climate action looks like not only through policies and programs, but through the stories we tell, the values we share and the future we imagine together.

Join us at eTown Hall for an evening of community storytelling centered on active hope, climate equity and collective resilience. A diverse group of storytellers will share reflections, creative expressions and perspectives that highlight the many ways our community is responding to the climate challenge.

The evening will also feature the premiere of “Boulder’s Big Adventure,” a short, family-friendly video that brings Boulder’s climate journey to life, along with opportunities to learn more about the city’s Climate Action Plan.

Whether you come to listen, share a story or connect with others, you are invited to be part of this community conversation.

Deadline to participate

Please sign up no later than 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 19.

Space is limited. For those interested in the live portion of the event, staff will reach out to confirm your participation within 2 business days of your submission.

In the meantime, please save the date (Wednesday, April 22 at 5:30 p.m.) for a virtual information session for confirmed storytellers. With a focus on novice storytellers, this session will provide participants a comfortable space to ask questions about the event and get comfortable with the idea of performing on stage.

Need inspiration?

While not required, the following prompts may inspire storytellers as they develop and refine their content:

  • What would an equitable, resilient future look like for Boulder – in 10 years, 100 years or 10,000 years?
  • If fully realized, what would climate equity and justice look and feel like in the future for communities struggling today with the greatest climate risks?
  • If everyone in Boulder made one simple change, what would it be and how would it benefit nature, climate and people long into the future?
  • What if a thriving, equitable future for nature and people didn’t require sacrifice? What would that look and feel like?
  • What innovations – large or small – could really move the needle on emissions, climate emergencies, or community wellness?
  • What kind of Boulder do you hope future generations will inherit?
  • If Boulder fully reimagined climate action, what would everyday life look like?
  • What small change today could create a big difference tomorrow?
