A story is the shortest distance between two people. It's how we find common ground. How we make connections with strangers and loved ones. The stories we tell one another are the guidebook for being human. "Here's what I've figured out about being human. What have you figured out?"
Which is why the City of Boulder teamed up with storyteller and trainer Johanna Walker to support community members in developing stories on the theme of BOLDER (get it? Boulder?) in the spirit of creating deeper and wider connections among us as a community.
35 Boulder folks gathered over the course of 3 weeks to dig for, develop and practice delivering their stories. These 3 workshops will culminate in a public story slam style showcase on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Canyon Theater in the Main Branch of the Boulder Public Library.
Story slam in that there's a theme for the night (BOLDER....or BOULDER), stories will be five minutes tops, true and told by heart, but there will be no judging this time. As in it's not a competition.
Eight of the tellers will be randomly selected from those who participated in the storytelling workshop, AND there will be two open slots for audience members, so if you have a story to tell, come throw your name into the hat.
Refreshments provided.
