The Landmarks Board generally meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 1777 Broadway. Meeting dates, times and locations are subject to change.
Any correspondence you wish the Board to review must be received via email at least 48 hours prior to the beginning of the meeting.
The Landmarks Board comprises five volunteer members appointed by City Council. Each member serves a five-year term. Two members must be architecture or urban planning professionals and three members are selected to represent the community at large. Additionally, a member of the Planning Board is appointed to serve as liaison between LB and Planning Board in a non-voting capacity. The board fulfills four major roles and has the authority to make rules and regulations to interpret the ordinance.
The Landmarks Board Mission is to protect, enhance, and perpetuate buildings, sites, and areas of the city reminiscent of past eras, events, and persons important in local, state or national history or provide significant examples of architectural styles of the past, and also to develop and maintain appropriate settings and environments for such buildings, sites, and areas to enhance property values, stabilize neighborhoods, promote tourist trade and interest, and foster knowledge of the city's living heritage.
