In addition to the online questionnaire and intercept survey, community members were invited to participate in this project through a public comment form available on the Multimodal Project webpage. This document lists all received comments in full, in addition to comments sent to osbt-web@bouldercolorado.gov ahead of and following Open Space Board of Trustees meetings.

Summary of Public Comment following Engagement Window 1

As comments were received, recurring themes and topics were identified and used to categorize responses. Comments that addressed multiple topics were noted and categorized accordingly.

In total, 114 comments were received prior to June 1, 2026. The majority of these comments (79%) discussed Trail Connections & Uses, which included requests for bike trail connections and concerns about safety for both cyclists accessing OSMP managed lands and trails, and pedestrians sharing trails with cyclists. The second most frequent topic was Trailheads & Access Points, with approximately 9% of respondents expressing interest in alternative ways of accessing trailheads (e.g. shuttles) or suggesting parking improvements at specific access points.

Common themes from comments:

  • Requests for additional bike trail connections, primarily between the Shanahan area to the Doudy Draw Trail
  • Sentiment against allowing cyclists on current pedestrian-only trails, primarily between the Shanahan area to the Doudy Draw Trail
  • Safety concerns regarding cycling access to current trailhead and access points
  • Safety concerns related to shared trail use between cyclists and pedestrians
  • Concerns about ecological and wildlife impacts from expanded bicycle access
  • Requests to reduce parking congestion at specific trailheads and access points
  • Recognition that driving may remain the only viable access option for some visitors with limited mobility
