Additional Victims and Witnesses Sought in Crime Spree that Injured Two People; Suspect Arrested
BOULDER, Colo. – Boulder Police are looking for additional victims and possible witnesses as they investigate a morning crime spree that started downtown. Thankfully officers were able to swiftly arrest the suspect.
The crime spree began just after 9:30 a.m. today, May 27, when Boulder Police were called to the Regional Transportation District (RTD) bus stop at 1400 Walnut St. for a report of an RTD bus driver who had been assaulted by an unknown male. That 53-year-old male victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The suspect walked away before officers arrived.
At approximately 9:50 a.m., officers received several calls reporting an unknown male had broken a door at one business and smashed a window at a second business in the 1100 block of 13th Street. The damage is estimated at $1,600. The suspect description matched the suspect description from the earlier assault.
Just after 10 a.m., an RTD Police sergeant saw the suspect at the RTD bus stop on Broadway and Euclid Avenue. He saw the suspect assault a 74-year-old male who suffered serious bodily injury and was transported to the hospital.
Officers took the suspect into custody. He has been identified as Phillip Matthew Clark, 39, of no fixed address. He was booked into the jail on charges of:
- Misdemeanor harassment,
- Misdemeanor third-degree assault,
- Misdemeanor failure to appear in court municipal city warrant,
- Three failure to appear warrants out of Denver that the jail would not accept,
- Three counts of misdemeanor criminal mischief, and
- Felony second-degree assault on an at-risk adult.
Detectives are looking for additional victims and any witnesses who might have seen any part of this incident.
