Arapahoe and 55th Break Area

The City of Boulder identified and repaired a water main break near Arapahoe Avenue and 55th Street that occurred on Dec. 8 at 6 a.m.

The cause of the water main break has been confirmed as a pressure break. When pressure in the water system changes, pipes can break. The city monitors break patterns and replaces water lines as needed when they reach the end of their useful lives or when other conditions warrant.

As a comparison, in 2021 from October to December there were 16 water main breaks in the city. This year, we've had 18 in the same time period, including this one.
