All City of Boulder administrative facilities and Age Well Centers will be closed Thursday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday.
City of Boulder closures for Independence Day, July 4, 2024
The following facilities and services will be open:
- Scott Carpenter Pool, Spruce Pool and Flatirons Golf Course will be open normal operating hours.
- East Boulder Community Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. North Boulder Recreation Center and South Boulder Recreation Center will be closed.
- Boulder Reservoir will be open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the exit gates closing at 5 p.m. The swim beach will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Boats will need to be off the water by 4 p.m. Alcohol is not allowed at the reservoir on this day.
- The city’s parks will be open normal hours 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Please follow the city’s parks rules and regulations.
- Open Space and Mountain Parks trails and trailheads will be open. Visit OSMPTrails.org to plan your visit to city open space.
- The West Age Well Center will also be closed on Friday, July 5 for annual maintenance. The East Age Well Center will be open on Friday, July 5.
Fireworks are illegal in the city, including on open space land. The Boulder Police Department will have increased patrols throughout the week to help deter the use of fireworks and ask anyone who sees individuals actively setting off fireworks to call Dispatch at 303-441-3333 with as much information as possible. All ignition sources – including smoking and campfires – are prohibited on City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks lands. OSMP Rangers and Boulder Fire-Rescue wildland firefighters will also be on active patrol to address and deter fireworks usage in the community and city-managed open space. Demonstrate courtesy and respect for everyone and recreate responsibly to help prevent wildfires.
Parking will be free on city streets and in all city-owned lots and downtown garages on Independence Day, July 4. Paid parking will be in effect at/near Chautauqua Park on the holiday, and the free Park-to-Park shuttle will be running from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Parking at Eben G. Fine Park will be open and Urban Park Rangers will be patrolling the entire Boulder Creek corridor to ensure everyone is recreating responsibly. Community members are encouraged to park at the Boulder County Justice Center, 1777 6th St. or the Main Boulder Public Library, 1001 Arapahoe Ave. Alcohol, grills and glass bottles are not allowed at Eben G. Fine Park. The city urges community members to recreate safely around Boulder Creek, as water in the creek can be running stronger, deeper and colder than it looks.
