BOULDER, Colo. – The Boulder Police Department and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Golden man this morning on several charges in connection to a shooting incident that occurred in the city.
At approximately 3:30 a.m. today, Jan. 8, Boulder Police officers responded to the Circle K at 2877 Baseline Road for a report of a shooting. An adult male told officers he pulled into the Circle K and that a man in a Mercedes, which was already in the parking lot, began shooting at him. The man was not struck by gunfire, but his vehicle was. The Mercedes driver then drove away.
Sheriff’s Office deputies spotted the Mercedes heading up the canyon toward Nederland and began following it. The driver eventually slid off the road and crashed a short time later in the 22000 block of the Peak to Peak Highway. The driver then ran away. He was later found a short distance away hiding inside a business located off the highway. Regional Boulder SWAT teams responded and took him into custody. Both the suspect and the victim were uninjured.
The suspect has been identified as Raheem Adebayo Ayoola Raji, 25, of Golden. He is being charged with two counts of Attempted 1st Degree Homicide. Additional charges are pending.
