The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with a major bodily injury.

The City of Boulder Police Department is investigating a crash involving a motorcycle and a box truck that occurred around 9:30 a.m. today at Valmont Road and Center Green Court, just west of Foothills Parkway. The driver of the motorcycle (adult male) was transported to the hospital with a major bodily injury.

The driver of the truck, a 51-year-old male, was issued a citation for careless driving causing serious bodily injury with a vulnerable road user enhancement. This is a serious traffic ticket that increases penalties when a Vulnerable Road User (VRU) such as a motorcyclist is involved.

Evidence for the citation was gathered from multiple sources, including witness statements and additional information gathered by officers on scene. License Plate Reader camera footage and photo enforcement camera footage confirmed that the motorcycle driver was heading southbound on Foothills Parkway and turned right heading westbound on Valmont Road when the driver of the box truck turned out of Center Green Court heading eastbound onto Valmont Road and struck the motorcyclist.

Boulder Police, Boulder Fire-Rescue and Falck Ambulance arrived on scene shortly after the crash, administered medical aid, and transported the motorcycle driver to the hospital. Valmont Road was briefly closed during the incident response.
