As a part of Boulder Fire-Rescue’s intensive ongoing trainings, the department will be hosting a wildland fire training on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday of this week. During this training there will be no live fire, however you may see crews in various locations around the city working a “mock” fire and setting up an incident command.

Tentative locations:

  • Hollyberry and Deer Valley (Skunk Creek Trailhead)
  • 17th and King (4 Pines Trailhead)
  • 428 Utica

“Trainings for all types of incidents in various terrains really help to provide our crews with working knowledge and experience of the area,” said Wildland Division Chief Brian Oliver. “When our crews have repeated a skill and are comfortable with it, our efficiency and service delivery is better for our community.”

If you see crews in these areas this week, please know that this is a training. Give them space and grace to conduct this important work as they prepare to best keep our community safe.
