Fire and law enforcement crews worked quickly and efficiently to secure the area and put the fire out.

At 9:19 a.m. Boulder Fire-Rescue was dispatched to the report of a small wildfire in the trees and grass on the north side of the intersection between Boulder Canyon Drive and Arapahoe Ave. By 9:29 a.m. there was water on the fire and by 11:10 a.m. the fire was 100% contained and measured at approximately a half an acre. There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire and no structures impacted. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

During the fire response, Sunshine, Red Rocks and Anemone Loop trails were closed out of an abundance of caution. Canyon Drive west of 6th Street was also closed. As of noon, all trails and roads were reopened.

A Warning to Evacuate for the area of the People’s Crossing Trailhead went out around 9:44 a.m. By 10:04 a.m., there was no longer a threat to safety and an All Clear alert was sent to the same people in that area. Community members are reminded that a Warning to Evacuate is issued when a threat may develop into a life-safety emergency. Residents are advised to prepare to evacuate, or to leave now if they anticipate needing extra time.
