Applications now open for local artists to display artwork in city recreation centers.
The City of Boulder is seeking artists interested in showcasing their artwork on the walls of one of the city’s three recreation centers: North Boulder Recreation Center, South Boulder Recreation Center and East Boulder Community Center.
Artists of all mediums including painting, photography, mixed media and more, are encouraged to apply. Selected artists will have the opportunity to display their artwork. Exhibitions will remain on display for at least one month, allowing hundreds of community members and visitors to enjoy the art as part of their recreation experience.
“Each year, we look forward to partnering with local artists to bring their work into spaces where our neighbors gather every day,” says Director of Parks and Recreation Ali Rhodes. “Programs like this are a wonderful way to bring joy to our public spaces and give our community new opportunities to experience local creativity.”
Applications are now open and will be accepted through Friday, Oct. 30. The selection committee reviews applications based on creativity, feasibility and connection to the community. Selected applicants will be notified early December 2026.
To be considered, interested artists must submit the application and review the Recreation Centers Exhibition Agreement found on the Open Art Call Recreation Center webpage.
