East Boulder Community Center (EBCC) to kick off annual recreation center maintenance shutdowns starting Saturday, March 14.

Each year, Boulder Parks & Recreation (BPR) temporarily closes recreation centers for deep cleaning and routine maintenance. The three city recreation centers are scheduled for the following shutdown dates:

  • EBCC, including the East Age Well Center, will temporarily close Saturday, March 14 to Sunday, March 22 with plans to return to normal operational hours on Monday, March 23.
  • North Boulder Recreation Center (NBRC) is tentatively scheduled to temporarily close Saturday, Aug. 15 to Sunday, Aug. 23. with plans to return to normal operational hours on Monday, August 24.
  • South Boulder Recreation Center (SBRC) is tentatively scheduled to temporarily close Saturday, Aug. 29 to Monday, Sept. 7, with plans to return to normal operational hours on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Annual, week-long shutdowns are key to ensuring that recreation facilities are not impacted by maintenance closures throughout the year by proactively addressing routine maintenance needs. During the temporary facility closures, community members are encouraged to explore activities, pools and recreational opportunities at neighboring facilities including city recreation centers, Spruce and Scott Carpenter outdoor pools (when open for the season) and the Boulder Reservoir.

Maintenance closure details will be updated on BPR’s website. For updated information on BPR’s Future of Recreation Centers, please visit the project webpage and accompanying Frequently Asked Questions.
