Traffic impacts may include lane closures during nighttime work to maximize travel efficiency

The City of Boulder is converting underutilized right lanes on Arapahoe Avenue between 28th Street and 63rd Street to bus and turn lanes, which are curbside lanes dedicated to buses and right-turning vehicles. Work is weather-dependent and will take place from Oct. 23-24 and Nov. 6-7.

The new bus and turn lanes will improve travel for all by reducing vehicle conflicts with the bus, speeding up transit travel times while supporting reliable travel times for people driving, and making turning right into intersections and into driveways easier and safer, improving access to businesses along the street.

The project is a joint effort coordinated with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) resurfacing work on east Arapahoe Avenue to help lessen taxpayer costs and shorten construction timelines for fewer disruptions to community travel. Travel impacts may include lane closures with flaggers guiding traffic during nighttime hours. Local and business access will remain open during construction.

For information about overall resurfacing impacts, please visit the CDOT website. For details about bus and turn lane restriping and signing, visit the project webpage or the city guide to East Arapahoe Avenue Projects.
