First responders pulled the man from the creek and administered CPR before transporting him to Boulder Community Hospital on July 4. He died at the hospital the evening of July 7.

Boulder, Colo. – On July 4, 2025 at approximately 2:26 p.m. Boulder Fire-Rescue and Boulder Police received a report from a 911 caller that a man was spotted floating unresponsively in the Boulder Creek in the area near 55th - 63rd Street. First responders arrived on scene and searched for the man. The Boulder Police Department deployed drones to help locate him, and Boulder Fire-Rescue’s water rescue team was on scene. First responders from multiple agencies searched for the man along the creek.

At approximately 2:48 p.m. first responders removed the man from the creek underpass at 61st street, about a quarter mile north of Valmont Ave. They immediately administered CPR. 10 minutes later the man was transported by AMR ambulance to Boulder Community Hospital. He died on Monday night, July 7, 2025. His body will be transported to the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. The Boulder County Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death, as well as identify the deceased.

The agencies who responded to this incident included Boulder Fire-Rescue, Boulder Police Department, Open Space Mountain Parks, Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, and Boulder Rural Fire. Boulder Fire-Rescue and Boulder Police Department immediately assumed unified command upon arrival at the scene.

Boulder Police are currently investigating the incident, but do not suspect any foul play at this time. There is no current risk to the public.
