If you want to get seven exercises done in seven minutes for free, the new Fitness Court® in North Boulder Park at 9th Street and Dellwood Ave. is perfect for you!
Community members and the media are invited to a grand opening ceremony on Friday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. to celebrate the Fitness Court, which is currently open for use anytime.
The Fitness Court is located west of the picnic shelter and was created due to demand to bring an adult exercise area back to the park. Boulder Parks and Recreation Department (BPR) worked with UCHealth and the National Fitness Campaign to install the Fitness Court, which provides free access to high quality workouts and creates an equitable exercise space for community members. The Fitness Court’s installation is part of our ongoing North Boulder Park renovations.
The Fitness Court is for community members over the age of 14 and is designed for all abilities since the workouts are adaptable for all fitness levels and allow participants to move at their own pace.
To get the most out of the Fitness Court, BPR recommends downloading the free Fitness Court app, which acts as a coach-in-your-pocket and shows how to use each fitness station.
The grand opening ceremony will include brief remarks from city personnel, a demonstration of exercises on the Fitness Court, and light snacks and beverages.
“The Fitness Court is a fantastic addition to Boulder Parks and Recreation’s system,” said BPR Director Ali Rhodes. “For free, you can now strengthen your body in one of our most beautiful parks. What a win!”
UCHealth’s partnership with National Fitness Campaign is part of the Ready. Set. CO challenge, which is a statewide challenge to make Colorado the healthiest state in the nation. Boulder joins Highlands Ranch and Loveland as the latest healthy community to join UCHealth’s campaign in Colorado.
“National Fitness Campaign is proud to work with Boulder’s Parks and Recreation Department to strengthen our network of free and accessible fitness, and continue our mission of getting people moving outdoors,” said Mitch Menaged, founder of National Fitness Campaign.
“Everyone can benefit from living an active lifestyle, both physically and mentally,” said UCHealth Chief Marketing, Experience and Customer Officer Manny Rodriguez. “Regular exercise can prevent illness, improve our mental health and help manage chronic health conditions.”
The North Boulder Park Fitness Court joins the existing Fitness Court at the CU Boulder campus.
We hope community members can join us at the grand opening ceremony on Oct. 27.
