With COVID-19 cases spiking in Boulder County, it is critical that our community remain vigilant this New Year’s Eve.

COVID-19 Testing

As cases of the highly contagious Delta and Omicron variants increase in Boulder, COVID-19 testing remains vital to stopping the spread. Free COVID-19 testing is available at Stazio Ball Fields in Boulder daily (closed Dec. 31 and Jan. 1) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Please allow extra time due to considerable demand. Community members seeking testing should plan ahead, exercise patience and expect delays.

COVID-19 Vaccination

Vaccination is one of best ways to protect against serious illness and death from COVID-19. Anyone who is five and older can get vaccinated and anyone who is 18 or older who is due for a COVID-19 booster should make a plan to get one.

New Year's Eve Celebrations

The safest way to celebrate New Year’s Eve this year is to spend it with those you live with or keep celebrations virtual. However, if you do plan to gather with people outside of your household:

Virtual Celebration
  • Protect those not yet eligible for vaccination by getting vaccinated.
  • Keep gatherings small.
  • If weather allows, host an outdoor gathering. Outdoors is safer than indoors.
  • If you are sick, have COVID-19 symptoms or have recently tested positive for COVID-19, don’t host or attend a gathering.
  • People at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 should consider taking extra precautions.

COVID-19 mainly spreads through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, sings, talks or even breathes. If you must go into public indoor spaces or crowded outdoor spaces, wear a facial covering that fully covers your nose and mouth, wash your hands frequently and keep at least six feet of distance from people not in your household.
