Upcoming drinking water system testing in East Boulder

The city will begin performing drinking water system testing on Thursday, Aug. 21 between 10 a.m. and noon in the area south of Valmont Road and east of Foothills Parkway. The testing area is noted in yellow on the map below.

During testing, homes and businesses may notice pressure fluctuations lasting 10 to 20 minutes. We anticipate similar testing in the coming weeks and will share updates on this webpage as details become available.

While there are no expected water quality impacts, this type of testing can sometimes cause discolored water by stirring up sediment within a waterline. Although this is not a safety concern, customers who experience discolored water can consider flushing their waterlines by running outdoor sprinklers or faucets or running indoor cold water taps until the water runs clear. Customers who notice discolored water may want to temporarily disconnect any in-home filter systems prior to flushing to avoid sediment buildup in the filters.

This testing is to ensure overall system reliability and redundancy in advance of connecting the newly installed drinking water pipe under 63rd Street north of Jay Road.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve and strengthen our water infrastructure. For more information, please call 303-441-3201.
