My name is Lori Goldman and I supervise Boulder Parks and Recreation’s EXPAND program and youth camps. I love EXPAND and all our participants and families and can’t imagine being anywhere else.

It’s been amazing to watch EXPAND regrow over the last 5 years! With that growth, I want to acknowledge the frustration and stress around registration and waitlists.

We don’t want you to feel like EXPAND registration is like trying to get tickets to a Taylor Swift concert, so I want to let you know what we’re doing to help:

  • Back-to-back sessions of water aerobics, spinning, and smile & stretch have been a huge success! This has allowed waitlists to be cleared and have more appropriate class sizes. EXPAND is looking at this strategy for other popular classes as well.
  • Other options we are considering include offering additional days of one-time programs, increasing programming hours to be earlier and/or more weekend opportunities, and offering multiple sessions of a program at the same time (essentially 2 rooms of the program running simultaneously).
  • At the end of the summer, we’ll send out a survey to help inform our growth and program decisions for the future. We’re eager to hear your feedback and ideas!

We were amazed at how fast programs filled up! Please continue to put your names on the waitlists, as that really helps me advocate for EXPAND and allows us to see the true needs and wants of all of you.

Also, we are excited to announce that we have received additional funding from Boulder County through the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities tax! Once we have contract details, implementation and a timeline, we’ll pass information along to our EXPAND participants and families.

Thank you for being part of the EXPAND family!
