About Brannon
Commander Brannon Winn is currently responsible for overseeing the Investigations Division.
Brannon Winn has been in policing for nearly 25 years. He has been with the Boulder Police Department for 15 of those years and prior to that he worked for 10 years at the University of Colorado Boulder Police Department in a variety of assignments. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Finance from C.U. – Boulder.
Commander Winn has served as a Patrol officer, Property Crimes Detective, Special Victims Unit Detective, Major Crimes Detective, Patrol Sergeant and most recently as the Detective Sergeant supervising Special Investigations, Property Crimes and then the Special Victims Unit. He was a SWAT Negotiator for 15 years, four of which were as the SWAT Negotiator Team Leader. He retired from the Boulder SWAT team in March 2022.
He has been the recipient of several awards throughout his career including the Medal of Excellence from the CU.. Police Department and the Medal of Excellence from the Boulder Police Department. Commander Winn was also the recipient of the 2013 Beth Haynes Award for his work on domestic violence cases and has served in training roles and organized large training events throughout his career to help others advance and learn in their policing careers.
