Permit Exceptions
The following is a list of tents that are exempt from permit. If your tent exceeds the threshold below, you will need to apply for a permit.
- Tents – with walls
- Not exceeding 400 square feet
- Tents – open on all sides
- Not exceeding 700 square feet
- Multiple open tents placed side by side, not exceeding 700 square feet

Application Requirements
Eligibility is limited to building occupancy types A (assembly) and M (mercantile); other occupancy types will need to apply for a Tenant Improvement building permit through the standard building process.
- Floorplans of existing and proposed conditions created and stamped by a design professional that also show the fire suppression system, egress, and discharge.
- Occupancy load calculations and confirmation of any fire watch requirements.
- Plumbing Fixture Count form
- Flame certificates for any fabric, foam, or other flammable materials that are being put in the building.
