Landmark Alteration Certificate
Required for all exterior changes to a property designated as an individual landmark or located within a historic district. To find out if a property is landmarked or in a historic district, refer to the Map of Historic Districts and Landmarks.
Non-Designated Demolition
Historic preservation review is required for buildings over 50 years old that are not designated as part of an individual landmark or historic district when work proposed meets the definition of “Demolition (Historic) in Section 9-16 Definitions, B.R.C. 1981.
Individual Landmark
Historic Preservation review is required when someone submits an application to amend or designate an individual landmark. While most landmarks are nominated by the property owner, the Landmarks Board, City Council or a recognized historic preservation organization may also submit an application.
State Tax Credits
Historic Preservation review is required at the start and end of a project when owners of designated historic properties apply for the State Historic Preservation Tax Credits.
Non-Designated Relocation
Historic preservation review is required for the relocation of buildings that are older than 50 years old, either on-site or off-site.
For buildings that are designated as part of an individual landmark or historic district, review is required through a Landmark Alteration Certificate (LAC).
Historic District Designation
Historic Preservation review is required when a group of property owners, the City or a recognized preservation organization submits an application to amend or designate a historic district. While most historic districts are nominated by a group of property owners, the Landmarks Board, City Council, or a recognized historic preservation organization may also submit an application.
