Kayla began with EXPAND in 2021 shortly after relocating to Colorado working as the inclusion specialist for the summer camps. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to stay on staff until the opportunity to work part time become a possibility. In November 2024, she was hired as a part-time recreation instructor.
Kayla graduated from Indiana University with her degree in Recreational Therapy and worked as a community recreation therapist for 5 years with individuals with developmental disabilities. Once she moved to Colorado in 2021, she worked in a mental health hospital with a large focus on leisure education, coping skills, and exercise. Kayla knew she wanted to return to her true passion of working with people with disabilities and to help reduce barriers to leisure, fitness, and socialization.
Kayla’s leisure interests include spending time with her husband and toddler, hiking, strength training, reading books, cooking, and baking.
