Overview

We have transitioned to new web-based detailed pool schedules. Unscheduled closures will continue to be available via text and on X (formerly known as Twitter). Upcoming schedule changes and schedule overviews are available on the Facility Status Page. We have heard that these are difficult to decipher and are working to make these more user-friendly.

FAQs

  • Why?
The Google Sheets schedule didn’t meet digital accessibility standards required by law, so Boulder Parks and Recreation (BPR) needed to find a different way to display pool and gym schedule information.
  • What about keeping the Google Sheets schedule for those who use it and providing an accessible schedule as an alternative?
We’ve heard how important it is to maintain accurate and updated schedules for the community, and maintaining multiple, duplicate schedule formats decreases the integrity and accuracy of the schedules.
  • Isn’t there an app for that?
We hope so! We are in the process of sourcing recreation management software, and we hope that in the future we’ll be able to provide more intuitive, user-friendly schedules.
  • The new schedules are showing less information than the old schedules. Can you add back in more details about user groups?
As part of the Citywide Digital Accessibility Project, we are intentionally simplifying schedules and websites when possible both to comply with standards, and to display key information that most of our visitors are looking for. User group managers will still have access to their group’s schedules.
  • Why is the text so big? Why isn’t it colorful anymore?
Now that the schedules are housed within the City of Boulder website, we are using the template provided for all the city’s web pages, which sets font sizes and colors.
  • I’d really like a schedule I can print out and hang on my fridge. Can we go back to that?
We would like that, too! Unfortunately, our schedules change so much that the schedule on your fridge would be outdated right away. We need real-time schedules available so everyone has current information.
