The city will update its utility billing systems this November, requiring all city water customers to re-register for a Customer Billing Portal account, and will move to paperless billing in February 2025
The City of Boulder is upgrading its utility billing platforms and will switch over to paperless billing in the new year to make paying and managing bills easier for customers. The shift to our new platforms on Nov. 25, 2024, will require water utilities customers to re-register for an online account on the Customer Billing Portal on or after Nov. 25.
During the transition, water customers may experience temporary service impacts in the existing system, including:
- “View Only” access to the existing billing portal from Nov. 21 to Dec. 9.
- No automated phone payment access from Nov. 21 to 24.
- No changes to payment type or auto-pay settings from Nov. 14 to 24.
Customers will need their customer number and account numbers, located on their existing utility bills, to register for an account on our new platforms. Customers signed up for auto-pay in our current system will be automatically enrolled in auto-pay in the new system.
We will also move to paperless billing in February 2025, with the January bill being the final paper bill customers will receive. Switching to paperless will reduce waste, is more cost effective and provides a more secure billing process.
