Community members may notice smoke east of Boulder today as a result of prescribed burns near 75th and Valmont.
Boulder community members may notice smoke in east Boulder today as crews conduct ditch burning. These prescribed burns are conducted by Boulder Fire-Rescue in collaboration with Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP), Boulder Rural Fire Rescue, and the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
Today’s burn will take place near 75th and Valmont, just northeast of the Valmont Reservoir. If weather changes during the day and crews are unable to continue the burn today, they will cease ignitions and look for another opportunity to burn on a different day. Boulder Fire-Rescue will update information on its website and social media if this happens.
Burn ignition will begin after 10 a.m. and will end prior to 3 p.m. Community members may continue to see smoke past 3 p.m. as the fire crews work on extinguishing the prescribed burn. Please do not call 911 to report these burns as they are not emergencies.
