Open Space and Mountain Parks earns Leave No Trace Gold Standard and will be spotlighted in June

The City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) Department has earned the Leave No Trace Gold Standard site designation from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, recognizing systemwide leadership in protecting natural areas through education, stewardship and sustainable management.

As part of this recognition, OSMP has been selected as a 2026 Leave No Trace Spotlight site joining 12 communities nationwide that are taking meaningful actions to protect outdoor spaces through onsite education and restoration efforts. From June 4 to 7, OSMP and Leave No Trace will host community events focused on stewardship and education.

The Gold Standard designation will be celebrated with the community during one of these Spotlight events at 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 7 at Chautauqua Trailhead. Council members are invited to attend.

More information about the Spotlight events can be found on the Leave No Trace webpage.
