National Night Out to Bring Neighbors Together with Police and Fire Departments
Holiday Closures
In observance of the winter holidays, the City of Boulder is adjusting its operations schedules.
BOULDER, Colo. – The community is invited to join your first responders for the annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1!
National Night Out (NNO) 2023 is going to look a little different this year but we’re excited to host you in OUR neighborhood at the Boulder Police Department! We will be showcasing several teams from the department for you to meet such as new K9 Astro, SWAT and the Terradyne, our Unmanned Aircraft Systems (Drone) team, bike patrol, Traffic and more!
We’re also thrilled to have our friends from the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office, Boulder Fire-Rescue and other city departments and community groups. There will be food trucks, corn hole, bike registration and great conversation.
Join us from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in front of BPD at 1805 33rd Street, on Tuesday, August 1! We encourage folks to bike or carpool if possible so we can accommodate as many folks who want to attend!
NNO is an annual event that helps to build camaraderie and allows for meaningful conversations in a casual setting while bringing back a true sense of community. Even better, it provides a time to bring together police and neighbors under positive circumstances.
“National Night Out is a great opportunity for our community to get to know their neighbors and their neighborhood officers,” Chief Maris Herold said. “Many times, our community members only meet law enforcement when they’re a victim of a crime, but during this event, we’re able to talk with our community members, hear their public safety questions and really get to know them, which is one of the best parts of our job.”
National Night Out started in 1984 and has since swept across the nation. It is an annual event in all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada and military bases worldwide, involving more than 15,000 communities and 37 million volunteers, residents and civil servants.
