Sign up for prizes and walk, bus, bike or roll at free, family-friendly events all month

June kicks off Boulder Walk and Bike Month — a month-long celebration of walking, biking and rolling in Boulder. 2026 brings new events and the return of community favorites like the Boulder Bike Show. Pledge to ride on Bike to Work Day, the month's signature event, for a chance to win giveaways and help the region measure the impact of biking, walking and rolling.

Some events require registration. Local event highlights throughout the month include:

  • June 17: Boulder Bike Show. Bring your own unique bike or drop by for a show of Boulder’s most eclectic bikes. The show includes creative bike categories with prizes awarded as judged by the audience.
  • June 20: Big Boulder Dog Walk. Bring your pup and join friendly dogs and their humans for doggy gift bags and a 2.4-mile leisurely trail walk at Boulder’s Cottonwood Trail. Dogs must be leashed or part of Boulder’s Voice and Sight Program.
  • June 24: Walk and Bike to Work Day, the month’s signature event. Enjoy free breakfast stations across town. Organizations can still sign up to host a breakfast station.
Afterward, stop by the Bike to Work Day Happy Hour for free food and to learn more about transportation options available in Boulder from the city and community partners.
  • June 27: W360 Slow Marathon. An all-day, all-Boulder adventure for people new to and familiar with walking routes around town. This slow marathon traverses a variety of walking surfaces in neighborhoods, parks and open space, with rest stops along the way.

Additional events include a Bike to Books Parade and more.

“At its best, transportation does more than move people from place to place — it supports well-being, brings neighbors together, and is an opportunity to enjoy the community we've built in Boulder. This June, I hope to see fellow Boulderites out walking, biking, and riding the bus — not just to get somewhere, but because getting there is part of the joy.”

- City of Boulder Transportation and Mobility Department Director Blythe Bailey.

“Walk and Bike Month showcases what makes getting around Boulder so special — the chance to connect with neighbors, enjoy the outdoors and get around in healthy, sustainable ways. We hope people of all ages and abilities join us throughout June to explore the city whether you walk, bike, roll or ride the bus every day or are trying it for the first time.”

- Community Cycles Executive Director Sue Prant

Walk and Bike Month is a statewide celebration. Local events at Boulder Walk and Bike Month support Boulder’s vision for transportation and are made possible by City of Boulder sponsorship as well as many generous nonprofit and corporate sponsors. Find all events on walkandbikemonth.org.
