Each year, Boulder Parks & Recreation (BPR) temporarily closes recreation centers for deep cleaning and short-term maintenance. This year, the South Boulder Recreation Center (SBRC) will close earlier than originally scheduled to support critical maintenance repairs in the building.

To minimize disruption, the City of Boulder has coordinated this maintenance work with SBRC’s annual facility-wide closure. Impacted rentals and programs will be contacted individually regarding rescheduling or cancellations.

SBRC closure schedule:

  • Pool Closure: Sunday, July 13 and tentatively reopens Wednesday, Oct. 1
  • Full Facility Closure: Monday, July 21 and scheduled to reopen Tuesday, Sept. 2.

The extended closure of the pool and building will allow the City of Boulder to complete necessary maintenance repairs that will extend the life of the building. The maintenance project was identified earlier this year to be scheduled during summer pool operations to lessen the impact on the community.

During this closure, community members are encouraged to explore activities and recreational opportunities at neighboring recreation centers, pools and parks including East Boulder Community Center (EBCC), North Boulder Recreation Center (NBRC), Boulder Reservoir and other BPR parks and facilities.

Earlier this year, extended maintenance at EBCC took place in March. NRBC’s temporary maintenance closure will occur later this summer starting Saturday, August 9, with plans to reopen Monday, August 18.

Additional updates and maintenance details will be posted on BPR’s website.
