A structure fire this morning at the Shady Creek Apartments left several residents displaced. The fire was mostly on the outside of the building, and one resident suffered minor injuries that were treated on scene.

At approximately 3:00 a.m. this Friday morning, Boulder Fire-Rescue responded to a fire at the Shady Creek apartments on the 2000 block of Canyon Boulevard. Upon arrival, firefighters located the fire on a ground-floor outdoor patio with flames spreading to the floors above. The fire stayed primarily on the outside of the building, though several apartments did suffer interior damage. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly and safely. The building was evacuated and searched and all residents and pets, including one pet fish, were accounted for.

One resident had minor burn and smoke injuries and was treated on scene. Several apartments had enough damage to be considered uninhabitable. Residents of those apartments were put in touch with the Red Cross and Boulder Police’s Victim Advocates. After approximately three hours, all other residents of the building were able to re-enter their homes.
