Breakfast stations in and around Boulder will be serving free food and drink from 7 to 9 a.m. Not currently commuting to work? No problem! You can still celebrate by taking your bike out for a morning ride to catch a free breakfast with other cyclists.

Winter Bike to Work Day is part of a statewide celebration and includes 16 free breakfast stations hosted by local companies and organizations in Boulder and Longmont. Participants are encouraged to pledge to ride, which helps the city and county measure the impact of biking in the Boulder area. “We are thrilled to be able to celebrate winter bicycle commuting again this year and encourage you to get out there on Feb. 11th, even if you consider yourself a ‘fair weather rider’. You might be surprised at how easy it is to plan for the weather and have an enjoyable ride,” said Sue Prant, Executive Director at Community Cycles.

Dave “DK” Kemp, Senior Transportation Planner for the City of Boulder, agrees: “If you can dress to ski, you can dress to bike! There’s no bad weather, just bad gear. Slightly lowering the air pressure in your tires, slightly lowering the level of your seat and adding fenders to your bike will go a long way to help you feel more comfortable when riding during the winter months, especially on snowy or icy roads and paths.”
