Project Overview
In partnership with Boulder High School, the City of Boulder’s Community Vitality Department is proud to debut a new student banner project that celebrates local creativity and enhances a key corridor of our downtown district. This initiative invited Boulder High art students to submit original banner designs to be installed along 15th Street between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Avenue - an area referred to as the “Design District.” The goal was to use art to beautify the space and create a stronger sense of place through youth expression.
Students were asked to create artwork that reflected 15th Street itself, Boulder High School and the broader Boulder community. The city received over 50 submissions, each filled with imagination, talent and a personal take on the city. Two designs were selected for the banner installations along 15th Street. Due to the overwhelming number of exceptional submissions, we also chose two additional designs to be displayed in the nearby alleyway between Canyon and Walnut streets, adjacent to the St Julien Hotel. We invite you to walk the blocks and experience the vibrancy and creativity these student artworks bring to downtown Boulder!
