Project Overview

Located along a nearly 25-mile stretch of Colorado State Highway 7 (CO 7) between Brighton and Boulder, the vision for this corridor is to improve traveler safety, personal travel efficiency and operations, and multimodal travel.

Multiple planning and feasibility studies have established the corridor’s future multimodal vision, including an integrated plan of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) improvements supported by multimodal (roadway, bicycle and pedestrian) infrastructure and transit-supportive land development at planned station areas.

Through a $10 million Regional Share Funding grant from the Denver Regional Council of Governments, priority projects are being identified and preliminary design plans developed to encourage quick investment in the transportation improvements amongst the municipalities, counties, agencies and developers along the corridor.

Corridor Vision

The CO 7 Multimodal Corridor from Brighton to Boulder is a set of projects with the vision of a safer and more connected corridor for all travelers. Work is coordinated between the city and agencies like the Regional Transportation District (RTD) and the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). Planned improvements include Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service, a regional bikeway, bus, bike and pedestrian connections, and first- and final-mile connections to the bus from people's destinations, such as with scooters, bikes, ride shares or other transportation modes. The segments listed below are currently funded:

CDOT, in partnership with the city, completed the preliminary design for the CO 7 Corridor Segment A between 28th Street and 63rd Street in Summer 2024.

Informed by the preliminary design phase, completed in 2024, we will advance the 28th Street to Foothills Parkway segment to final design.

Informed by the final design from 28th Street to Foothills Parkway, we will construct multimodal improvements between 28th Street and 33rd Street with funds awarded by the Safe Streets for All Grant.

The North 30th Street Preliminary Design Project will develop and evaluate conceptual design options for a protected intersection at Arapahoe Avenue and 30th Street into early 2025. If the recommended conceptual design is approved, final design will begin as part of the CO 7 28th Street to Foothills Parkway segment.
