Project Overview

There are a variety of wildfire resilience projects occurring around the City of Boulder! If you have reached this page, that means you have come across one in the wild! Read below to learn more about what you are seeing where you are!

Project Goal:

Remove highly flammable juniper plants from city Parks and Recs property and replace with water-wise and fire-wise vegetation.

Project Specifics:

The pilot program will remove junipers in the following areas of Wonderland Lake Park across from Wonderland Hill Ave:

  • Park Access Path Entry – currently provides screening and stand-alone accent that will need replacement
  • Medium Junipers Along Path – currently used as vegetation structure for the path that will need replacement
  • Small Junipers Along Path – small plant where replacement is not needed

Timeline:

August 2026 - Juniper Removal

Late Fall 2026 - Vegetation Planting
