The city commits to maintaining smooth operations.
Holiday Closures
In observance of the winter holidays, the City of Boulder is adjusting its operations schedules.
John Kinney, the manager for the Boulder Municipal Airport, has accepted the role of director with Northern Colorado Regional Airport, which serves the communities of Loveland and Fort Collins.
His last day as a Boulder employee will be Oct. 25.
Kinney has overseen airport operations in Boulder for three and a half years. During this time, he worked with city colleagues to re-establish a culture towards safety; proactively manage leases; apply rules evenly to all airport tenants and users; and identify critical infrastructure needs. Kinney has also participated in extensive community engagement about the future of the airport, sharing his professional perspective and expertise.
“I have truly appreciated John’s work to ensure that our airport continues to operate smoothly and safely. Through his steady leadership, we’ve gained a much better understanding of the current and future needs associated with our airport,” said City Manager Nuria Rivera-Vandermyde. “We will benefit from his evaluation and contributions long after he leaves.”
The city will conduct a national search for the next airport manager. Until that search has concluded, the airport will continue normal operations. There will be no delays to upcoming primary ramp pavement remediation or other measures to ensure winter weather resilience as the snow season approaches.
