Boulder Fire-Rescue Firefighters and Boulder Police responded quickly and the man was arrested without further incident.

On Sunday, October 2, Boulder Police responded to a report of someone stealing a Boulder Fire-Rescue truck while Fire-Rescue personnel were responding to a nearby medical call in the area of Pennsylvania and Broadway.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded to the scene and arrested Kirill A. Kiefel, 28, on charges of second-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and a felony parole violation for robbery. Fire personnel told officers they were on a call when they saw the truck moving down the street. A firefighter jumped in, pulled the emergency brake and firefighters detained the suspect until officers arrived.

The Boulder Fire-Rescue engine was undamaged. No injuries were reported, and the Boulder Fire-Rescue engine was returned to service shortly after the incident. Boulder Police do not believe this is related to the other crimes on University Hill on Sunday.

As in every criminal case, these charges are an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty.
