The Boulder Police Oversight Panel invites the public to review the panel’s recently drafted by-laws and provide feedback prior to the panel’s formal adoption of the by-laws.
The draft by-laws are posted on the Police Oversight Panel’s page where members of the public can submit comments online. Feedback on the by-laws can also be provided over the phone by calling 720-376-3980. Additional language access options can be arranged by calling the same phone number. The public comment period will continue until March 2, 2022. The panel will then consider public feedback and any adjustments to the by-laws before voting to formally adopt the by-laws.
The Police Oversight Panel was created by the City Council to increase community involvement in police oversight and to ensure that historically excluded communities have a voice in police oversight. The role of the panel is to review completed internal complaint investigations, make recommendations on disposition and discipline for those complaints, and to make policy and training recommendations to the department. Boulder’s Police Oversight Panel meets virtually on the second Thursday of every month at 6:30pm. Meeting access information and an agenda are made available online 24 hours in advance.
