Plan will provide city water conservation guidance for next seven years
Holiday Closures
In observance of the winter holidays, the City of Boulder is adjusting its operations schedules.
The City of Boulder has published the 2023 Water Efficiency Plan and invites the community to view the plan online. The plan provides guidance for implementing the city’s Water Conservation Program in a way that is compatible with the Colorado Water Plan, the city’s water supply system, adopted water conservation goals and community values.
The city created the plan following robust community engagement and technical analysis in 2023. The plan proposes new water conservation programs aimed at reducing water loss in the city's distribution system as well as improving incentives and educational community programs to support conserving water. The city will implement the new plan over the next seven years.
“We appreciate the community’s support in taking care of our natural resources, supporting water conservation through everyday actions and providing feedback throughout this process,” said Civil Engineering Senior Project Manager Robby Glenn. “The input we received earlier this year helped inform many of the water conservation recommendations included in the final plan."
The State of Colorado requires an update to the Water Efficiency Plan every seven years. The city submitted its new plan to the Colorado Water Conservation Board for preliminary review and did not receive any major revisions. The plan is now awaiting the board’s final review, anticipated later in 2024.
