The City of Boulder loves having mobile food vehicles in our community! They bring flavor, fun and vibrancy to our neighborhoods — and we want to keep it that way for everyone’s safety and enjoyment. That is why the City of Boulder is partnering with Boulder County Public Health, Latino Chamber and Boulder Chamber to host a mobile food vehicle licensing event on Wednesday, Feb. 25 and Thursday, Feb. 26 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Boulder Fire Training Center, located at 6055 Reservoir Rd. This is an appointment-only event. The window to make an appointment opens at 8 a.m. on Monday Feb. 16 and closes at noon on Monday, Feb. 23 or until full.
Bilingual staff will be on hand to assist in filling out applications, review documentation and if the mobile food vehicle is onsite, assist in navigating both the retail food license and fire inspections. Applications can be processed without payment and invoiced later.
The city values the vibrant, diverse food truck culture that brings people together and supports local entrepreneurship. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for both vendors and consumers, the city requires all mobile food vendors to be properly licensed. These licenses help uphold essential health and safety standards, regulate operations to prevent public disruptions and promote fairness among all food service businesses. Licensing also allows the city to maintain oversight and support vital services through regulatory compliance. In the city a Business License, Sales Tax License, Mobile Food Vehicles License, Boulder County Public Health Retail Food License and fire inspection are required before a mobile vendor can conduct business.
City issued Mobile Food Vehicle licenses are valid for a two-year period and expire on March 1 of the second year of the license term. Licenses can also be applied for at a reduced rate for operations in the city occurring no more than four consecutive days or less for festivals or special events. Applications filed mid-term receive a pro-rated license term depending on application date. Interested attendees are asked to register for an appointment between 8 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 16 and noon Monday, Feb. 23.
Mobile food vendors that have additional questions or need assistance but cannot attend the event should email licensingonline@bouldercolorado.gov.
