The city anticipates allocating roughly $3.4 million in Health Equity funding in 2024.

The City of Boulder has released the 2024 Health Equity Fund (HEF) Request for Proposals (RFP), for community-based health equity programs benefitting Boulder community members experiencing health disparities.

Through the HEF, the city anticipates allocating roughly $3.4 million in funding in 2024, to qualified community organizations through a competitive application process based on alignment with the intent and language of the Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Product Distribution Tax, a ballot measure which was approved in November 2016.

The HEF aims to reduce disparities and to improve health equity for people experiencing systemic socio-economic and health barriers. Examples of HEF-supported programs include those that prevent diseases (e.g. obesity, diabetes, heart disease, oral diseases) linked to consumption of sugary beverages; increased access to healthy food and clean water; expanding health services and wellness programs; promoting physical fitness; and more.

Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Aug. 22, 2023, and must be submitted electronically using the Foundant grant management system. No paper or late applications will be accepted. Interested applicants are encouraged to participate in a HEF information session to be held on Tuesday, June 27 at 10am.

To download the RFP – which includes links for the virtual information sessions -- and to apply for the 2024 fund round, visit the Health Equity Fund webpage. Applications from organizations that are led by and serve historically excluded populations, are encouraged to apply.
