The City of Boulder today announced that Jennifer Douglas will become the city’s next Chief Innovation and Technology Officer effective June 15.

The City of Boulder today announced that Jennifer Douglas will become the city’s next Chief Innovation and Technology Officer effective June 15.

Douglas has more than 20 years of information technology and strategy experience, most recently as the deputy chief customer officer with the Colorado Governor’s Office of Information Technology. In that role, she directed and executed the state’s IT programs and defined statewide IT strategies, policies, and projects.

“Jennifer’s strong innovation and strategy experience in both the private and public sectors provides an opportunity for the city to maximize opportunities to rethink government processes to better serve the community and to help the city become more effective and efficient in its use of technology and data. “This position will play an essential role in moving more city services to an e-government environment that is available 24/7.”

In her role as Boulder’s Chief Innovation and Technology Officer, Douglas will set the innovation and technology strategy for the city by collaborating with other city departments, as well as community and external partners. She will work closely with the community by using her knowledge to provide technical insights and suggestions to facilitate building better government and serve on executive advisory boards for various city-wide initiatives.

Douglas holds a Master of Business Administration from Babson College, Franklin W. Olin Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies from Northern University of Vermont. She is currently working toward a Ph.D. in Organizational Performance & Change from Colorado State University.
