Here’s some need-to-know information for the week:

City opens second round of snow and ice response review engagement

Next week, the Transportation and Mobility Department will open the second round of community engagement for its Snow and Ice Response Review project. The department is conducting the review to build awareness of how the city currently responds when it snows, understand the community’s preferences on services and consider changes to the program.

This round of engagement will focus on gathering feedback about potential changes to the program. The potential program changes were developed after thorough analysis of the current program coupled with community input. Over 600 community members offered feedback and shared their winter travel experiences during the first round of engagement in 2023.

To provide feedback, community members can participate in an on-demand open house and online questionnaire at their convenience in both English and Spanish. The questionnaire will be open through Feb. 9 and will help the department understand community response to the proposed program changes. Feedback will be used to inform the final program changes, which are dependent on available resources and may occur in winter 2024/2025 at the earliest.

Clearing snow and ice in Boulder is a shared responsibility between Transportation and Mobility, Parks and Recreation, Code Enforcement, Utilities, local partners and private property owners. This review is focused on potential changes to snow and ice response on streets, bus stops, multi-use paths, the bike network and shoveled areas maintained by Transportation and Mobility.
