Construction is happening fast at South Boulder Recreation Center!
Late last year, SBRC’s boiler failed and flooded the gym. In addition, a pool leak had closed the pool indefinitely. The Parks and Recreation Department has been working to fix all of the facility's water leaks and think about the long-term future use of the recreation center. Here's the latest update for this project:
The new floor is being installed and painted in the gymnasium and racquetball court areas.
Our current plan is to open the gymnasium for classes and drop-in activities the first week of October and increase the amount of available hours for SBRC. We'll post more information about these plans once they are finalized.
Regarding the pool, all pool leak repairs have been completed and the pool deck has been removed. Contractors are planning to start replacing the concrete at the beginning of October.
We're invested in the community who live nearby and use SBRC. We want the facility to be available for many uses now and in the future.
Thanks for your patience as we work on these two repairs simultaneously.
