Construction is anticipated to begin at the end of July 2026 and last about 2 months, pending weather and contractor availability.
This project will replace the pedestrian and bike bridge at Arapahoe Avenue over South Boulder Creek, between Old Tale Road and Cherryvale Road. The brand-new bridge will have a concrete deck for a smoother, quieter ride.
Timeline
Construction and travel impacts
Expect impacts to driving and detours when walking and biking. You can continue to access nearby neighborhoods and businesses during construction. View the Cone Zones map for updates.
When walking or biking, expect:
- The underpass beneath the bridge will remain open except during safety-critical operations, such as removal of the old bridge.
- Traffic control during intermittent underpass closures, which will only be for minutes at a time.
- A detour for biking and walking along Arapahoe Avenue to Cherryvale Road. There will be a barrier in the northernmost vehicle lane between vehicle traffic and the biking/walking detour.
When driving, expect:
- Periodic delays and flaggers guiding traffic.
- Daily, single-lane closures from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- A full, night-time closure of westbound vehicle lanes during safety-critical work. There will be advance notice and detours.
When taking the bus, expect:
- Stop 12231 at Arapahoe Avenue & Cherryvale Road (WB) will be closed. The nearest open stop is about 800 feet to the west in front of the Weathervane Apartments: Stop 12243 at Arapahoe Avenue & Old Tale Road.
