Special Events at the Boulder Reservoir

Special Event:

A planned and promoted public activity conducted on public property, that requires a City of Boulder Special event permit, when the expected number of participants and spectators totals 50 or more people; and/or uses tents structures and/or sound amplification; and/or when providing, selling or distributing alcohol and or food the public; and/or uses public right of ways, and/or impacting vehicle, bike or bus traffic within reservoir property lines. This includes but is not limited to ; athletic events, walking events, boating events, festivals, parades, etc.

Types of Special Events

Special events are categorized based on expected number of participants:

  • Small: 0 - 200 participants
  • Medium: 201-999 participants (25 maximum per year)
  • Large: 1,000 - 3,000 participants (5 maximum per year)
  • Signature: 3,000+ participants (3 maximum per year)

Private Events at the Boulder Reservoir

Private Event:

A planned private event - attendees are by invite only with controlled or ticketed entry. These events not open to the everyone. This may include but are not limited to; weddings, corporate parties, family gatherings, celebrations etc.
