Community invited to provide input for improvements to parts of Baseline Road and Iris Avenue

The City of Boulder is launching the next phase of in-person and virtual community engagement for two priority transportation projects on the Core Arterial Network (CAN). The CAN is Boulder’s connected system of multimodal (taking the bus, driving, biking and walking) transportation improvements along Boulder’s main corridors that will help reduce the potential for severe crashes and make it more comfortable and convenient for people to get where they need to go.

The community is invited to upcoming in-person and virtual engagement opportunities for these two priority projects to help improve multimodal connectivity and safety.

The Iris Avenue Transportation Improvements Project, between Broadway and 28th Street, has developed conceptual design options, or alternatives, informed by transportation data and community engagement gathered in 2023. Community members can learn more and provide input at the Iris Avenue Open House on April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at Columbine Elementary School (3130 Repplier St., Boulder, CO 80304), through the Iris Avenue virtual open house and online questionnaire available from April 27 through May 27, and at other smaller community engagement activities through early summer.

The Baseline Road Transportation Safety Project, from 30th Street to Foothills Parkway, is kicking off its second phase, funded by a $3.2 million federal grant. The second phase includes design and engagement to support the comprehensive implementation of multimodal, capital-intensive improvements, including completing the tall-curb protected bike lanes installed with scheduled pavement maintenance in 2023. The city invites community members to provide input starting this May, including through a Baseline Road virtual questionnaire.

The community can sign up for updates on upcoming engagement opportunities and project news on the city’s Transportation & Mobility Department monthly newsletter.
